Developing Hydrogen Ports and Maritime Policy in the North Sea Region – New Speakers Announced

Written on the 26th February, 2019

European Policy Solutions with the support of the Dutch Fuel Cell manufacturer, Nedstack, is organising a Conference on ‘Developing Hydrogen Ports and Maritime Policy in the North Sea Region.”  The Conference will be held in Edinburgh on 26th March 2019.

New speakers have said that they will speak at the Conference.  These include Morna Cannon from the Department of Transport in London where  Morna is  Head of Maritime Technology and Clean Maritime Growth.   In January, the UK Government  published its Maritime 2050 Strategy and later this year will publish a Clean Maritime Plan.  This Plan will “lead the way in green standards to reach zero emission shipping as quickly as possible.”

Morna will be joined in the Opening Session of the Conference by Olav Hansen who is Senior Principal Consultant in the Bergen Office of Lloyds Register.  Norway has a strong record in the development of hydrogen vessels.  Lloyds Register has worked with the University Maritime Advisory Services to produce the “Zero Emission Vessels – Pathways to Transition” Report.

Chester Lewis  from E4Tech will consider the bulk  production of green hydrogen and outline a recent project in Germany which looked at the electrolyser industry’s capability to increase to multi-GW scale.

Charles Purkess, Business Development Manager of ITM Power will look at  ITM Power’s experience in developing maritime operations and the way in which experience from land based energy and transport can be adapted to the maritime sector.

Further information about the Conference and a Booking Form can be found in the seminars section of the European Policy Solutions website on https://europeanpolicysolutions.com.
