EPS Announces Two New Conferences For 2020

Written on the 2nd December, 2019

European Policy Solutions has announced two new Conferences to be held in 2020.

The Second North Sea Hydrogen Ports and Maritime Conference. will held on Tuesday 11 February 2020.  It is a One Day Conference to be held at the Greater Birmingham and West Midlands Conference Centre in Brussels.

The original North Sea  Conference was held in Edinburgh (March 2019) and provoked much interest.  As a result of the Conference, there has been a small Initiative Group looking at the way in which the Ports and Maritime Sectors could work more closely with the hydrogen sector in the North Sea and this work will be discussed.  The Conference. will  also examine  the progress of hydrogen maritime projects in the North Sea area and  the opportunities offered by the new EU Budget operating from 2021.   The Conference will outline  the policy developments underpinning the European Union’s ‘Green Deal’ and the enhanced Horizon Europe funding programme for Research and Innovation.

The Conference will also look at the actions and strategies of national governments  such as the Clean Maritime Plan launched by the UK Government in July 2019.  It will also examine  international developments such as the creation of the “Getting to Zero Coalition” in September 2019 which has the objective to “have commercially viable Zero Emission shipping operating along deep sea trade routes by 2030.” The Conference will outline  the H2 Ports Initiative which has been developed by the FCH-JU and the US and Japanese Governments.   Initiatives to introduce greater levels of Green Finance will also be discussed.

The Second Conference will look at the role of Hydrogen in the Built Environment.  Heating and cooling in buildings make a substantial contribution to CO2 and other emissions.  European Policy Solutions will organise a Hydrogen and the Built Environment Conference on  Tuesday 3 March 2020.  It will be held in Brussels at  the Scotland House Conference Centre.  The Conference will consider  a broad range of projects and issues such as hydrogen in the gas networks, hydrogen fuel cells in CHP domestic heating systems and hydrogen in district heating and heat networks.

Further details of both Conferences will appear on  the European Policy Solutions website soon.
