The Fourth North Sea Hydrogen Ports and Maritime Conference will take place in Brussels on Thursday 27 February 2025. The Early Bird rate will end at the close of business today. There has been a great level of interest in the Conference which look at the key role of North Sea ports in the developing hydrogen economy.
The Conference will have keynote addresses from senior Commission officials in Brussels and will look at the way in which a North Sea Hydrogen Import Corridor will develop alongside the formation of green hydrogen market which we will also examine.
Co-operation across the North Sea Region will be an important element in the development of a hydrogen economy. Many countries and regions have expressed a wish to co-operate through Memoranda of Understanding and other co-operation mechanisms. The Conference will look at the growing links between Scotland and Northern Germany, Laura-Louise O’Reilly from the Scottish Government’s Brussels and Francesca Moglia will give presentations on the development of these links.
The concept of Green Shipping Corridors were part of the conclusions to the COP Conference in Glasgow and they are an important co-operation tool. The Corridors target a range of net zero options but hydrogen features strongly in many corridors, Moises Blanco Rios from the European Commission will outline the aims, strategic objectives and advantages of the Corridors.
Gitte Livbjorg from the Foden Maersk McKinney Moeller Center for Zero Carbon Shipping has been involved in the practical development of Corridors in the North Sea and will provide practical examples.
The North Sea Hydrogen Valley Ports project is part funded by the North Sea INTERREG Programme. Hydrogen Valleys are key mechanisms in the development of regional hydrogen economies. The project develops Hydrogen Valley Master Plans for four North Sea ports in Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands and France.
