Hydrogen Strategies and Co-operation in the North Sea Region Conference – Early Bird Rate Ends Friday

Written on the 27th September, 2022

The Hydrogen Strategies and Co-operation in the North Sea Region Conference will take place on Tuesday 11 October in Edinburgh.  The Conference will look particularly at the maritime dimension in hydrogen strategies and is organised by the North Sea Hydrogen Ports and Maritime Community (NS HyMaP.).  The Conference is part of Maritime UK Week and is sponsored by CMB Tech, There is a special rate for NS HyMaP and Maritime UK Members but the Early Bird Rate closes this Friday, 30 September.

We have a great line up of speakers drawn from both the public and private sectors and from around the North Sea Region.   The North Sea Region speakers will include Jakob Ovens from the Institute of Shipping Economics and Logistics in Bremen.  He has done research into the maritime and logistics aspects of hydrogen strategies and will speak specifically about the implementation of the hydrogen strategy in Germany.

There has been a lot of interest in links between Scotland and Germany.  These include plans to develop links in research and innovation but also include trading in green hydrogen with Scotland exporting green hydrogen into Germany.  These aspects were outlined in the Scor2Ger Report that was published earlier this year.   Alan Mortimer, the Director of Innovation at Wood plc will describe export opportunities for Scotland resulting from the project while Sibyl Scharrer will look at Scotland-Hamburg links from the Hamburg perspective.

International co-operation will be further outlined in the Conference and Natasha Coates from the UK Government’s Department for Transport will look at green corridors including the Clydebank Declaration and Dennis Jul Pedersen, the Chief Executive of the Port of Esbjerg will explain the aims and objectives of the Esbjerg Declaration.
