North Sea Hydrogen Ports and Maritime Community (NS HyMaP) – New Developments

Written on the 7th January, 2021

From 1 January 2021, the North Sea Hydrogen Ports and Maritime Community (NS HyMaP) has become a membership based association.  NS HyMaP began as an Information Exchange at the end of April 2020 but a Members Meeting on 10 December 2020 decided that it should change its structure and focus.

The Meeting agreed a Mission Statement and aims and objective:

NS HyMaP Mission Statement

“The North Sea Hydrogen Ports and Maritime Community (NS HyMaP) is a membership
based association that promotes the increased use of hydrogen in the ports and maritime
sector as an effective and efficient way of achieving climate neutrality in one of the EU’s
most important maritime regions.”

NS HyMap will provide a platform for the North Sea ports, maritime ad hydrogen sectors to:
• Stimulate debate and joint working to promote hydrogen production, storage and
applications in the North Sea ports and maritime sectors
• Develop a research and innovation agenda that will promote an effective and
efficient hydrogen value chain for the North Sea Region
• Provide an Information Exchange on a broad range of issues of mutual interest to
these sectors including research, regulations and scaling up of hydrogen
production, storage and applications.
• Represent Members’ interests in the development of policies at EU, IMO and national government level.
• Identify project opportunities and advise on project applications and their
implementation.

NS HyMaP also has a new website at http://www.nshymap.com/home/ At the moment, the website is only a single page but we will be adding a News Page soon .
