This webinar examines the key policy area of research and Innovation which will be key to the improved performance of the hydrogen sector. The webinar will outline current R&I projects and partnerships both in Scotland and Northern Germany. Natasha Madeira will begin by looking at the development of an Energy Technology Partnership (ETP/). The ETP is an independent partnership of 14 Scottish universities, engaged in energy research and innovation. It is the largest academic energy research partnership in Europe, promoting increased levels of collaboration between universities and industry to deliver R&I capability across a range of energy technologies.
Jimmie Langham, the Chief Executive of cruh21, will outline the TransHyDE 2.0 Initiative. It was launched in May 2025 with the aim of advancing European hydrogen infrastructure. It is the successor to the TransHYDE project. The focus is on seven implementation platforms (gaseous hydrogen, liquid hydrogen, ammonia, liquid organic hydrogen carrier (LOHC), dimethyl ether (DME) & carbon dioxide and methanol) as well as four accompanying research platforms in the areas of system analysis, standardization & safety, market and regulation as well as acceptance. International partners and collaboration are welcome.
The Scottish Hydrogen Innovation Network (SHINe) acts as a central hub connecting innovators to Scottish hydrogen expertise, testing facilities, and supply chain partners to accelerate technology deployment. It focuses on bridging the gap from research to commercialization. James Ruel from the Network will outline its work.
A major funder for Hydrogen Research and Innovation is the Clean Hydrogen Partnership. It is a public/private partnership funded by the European Union and the hydrogen sector. It currently has a call for projects totalling €105 million and has a budget of around € 1 billion from 2021 to 2027 which is matched by the private sector. A presentation will be made about the work of the Partnership.
The webinars will be around 1.5 hours in length, in English and free of charge. For further information contact Jon Jordan at [email protected] or phone +44 776 476 4773.
