The Third North Sea Hydrogen Ports and Maritime Conference will be held in Brussels on Tuesday 22 November 2022. It will be held in Scotland House in the Rond-Point Schuman which is opposite the Berlaymont Building and adjacent to the Schuman rail and metro stations. The Conference has the title Raising the Hydrogen Maritime Potential of the North Sea Region.
Since the Second North Sea Hydrogen Ports and Maritime Conference in February 2020, the role of hydrogen in energy transition has been more and more crucial and there has been much activity in the North Sea Region. Dependence on fossil fuels has been brought into the spotlight by the war in Ukraine and this has accelerated the need to develop renewable energy solutions including hydrogen.
The third North Sea Hydrogen Ports and Maritime Conference builds on this activity and looks at a number of policy initiatives that will emphasise the key role that the ports and maritime sector must play in the creation of a hydrogen economy. In the Conference, we look at the active policies being developed by the European Union in terms of a policy response. We also look at the development of ports as hydrogen valleys, the design of new or retrofit hydrogen vessels and development of hydrogen bunkering in North Sea ports.
