THIRD NORTH SEA HYDROGEN PORTS AND MARITIME CONFERENCE- NEW SPEAKERS ANNOUNCED

A number of new Speakers have agreed to speak at the Third North Sea Hydrogen Ports and Maritime Conference which will be held in Brussels  on 11 January 2022.  The title of the One Day Conference is ‘Realising the Maritime Hydrogen Potential of the North Sea Region’ and it will look at a wide range of issues such as Ports as Hydrogen Valleys, Hydrogen Vessel Design and Hydrogen Bunkering and Transport.   The Conference is organised by the North Sea Hydrogen Ports and Maritime Community (NS HyMaP)_ with the support of CMB TECH and Nedstack.

The Conference will also look at EU policy developments that affect the Ports and Maritime Community. The new Horizon Europe Private-Public Partnerships are important players in the delivery of the EU hydrogen Strategy,  Bart Biebuyck, Executive Director of the Clean Hydrogen Partnership will discuss the opportunities of this Partnership which is the successor to the highly successful Hydrogen Fuel Cell Joint Undertaking (FCH JU.)  He will be followed by Jaap Gebraad, the Executive Director of the newly created European Partnership for Zero Emission Waterborne Transport.   This is a new partnership in the Horizon Europe structure and builds on the strategies developed by the Waterborne Technology Platform.

We will also be joined by senior colleagues from the European Commission.   Rosalinde van der Vlies will speak on the importance of Hydrogen Valleys and their role in delivering the EU Hydrogen Strategy.  Rosalinde is Director of the Clean Planet Directorate of DG Research,   The European Commission has announced that it wants the maritime sector to join the Emission Trading Scheme (ETS)   Damien Meadows, Head of the Maritime Unit at DG Clima will outline the  issues associated with these policies and explain the important link to the EU Innovation Fund and its importance to the ports and maritime sector.
