Hydrogen Market and Export Conference: Seven Days To Go

Written on the 10th May, 2023

There are just seven days to go before the “Developing A European Hydrogen Market: Import and Export of Hydrogen in the North Sea Region” Conference is held in Edinburgh on Wednesday 17 May 2023 and there are some places still available. Scotland and the United Kingdom are well-placed to begin to export green hydrogen to mainland Europe by the mid 2020s and detailed planning and strategies are now being prepared.

The one day Conference includes a  ‘deep dive’ into the many aspects of exporting including the policy and project framework, the way in which hydrogen and its derivatives will be transported,  and the legal and regulatory changes that need to take place.

Previous news updates on this website has reviewed the policy and project framework and the speakers tackling the legal and regulatory aspects.   We are also discussing the transport issues associated with the exporting hydrogen and its derivatives like ammonia, methanol and LOHC.  It begins with Caragh McWhirr, the Head of Hydrogen at Xodus Group looking at the options by maritime transport and Malcolm Forbes-Cable from Wood Mackenzie looking at the pipeline opportunities.  We will also have a presentation from Yara International examining the export of hydrogen as green ammonia and Adam Forsyth from Longspur Research outlining the advantages and disadvantages of methanol. Martyn Tulloch from the Net Zero Technology will analyse the role of LOHC when he looks at the the development of the Scottish Hydrogen Highway to Europe.
