The Hydrogen Strategies and Co-operation in the North Sea Region will be held in Edinburgh on 11 October and will look at the maritime dimension of strategies and co-operation. It is a Maritime UK Week event and is also sponsored by CMB Tech.
In the last week, a number of new speakers have accepted our invitations to speak. Andy Franks, the Decarbonisation Risk Specialist at Lloyds Register will be talking about Safety Issues and Regulation in Hydrogen Ports. Lloyds Register looked at the issues in a recent UK project which included the Maritime and Coastguard Agency and the Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult as partners.
As the largest port in the North Sea Region, the Port of Rotterdam will play an important role in energy transition and the introduction of hydrogen. The Port is creating a Hydrogen Hub and Martijn Coopman from the port of Rotterdam will be explaining their plans.
Developing projects from strategies and plans is a very important element in the implementation of strategies. The session will begin with James Lovett from Innovate UK looking at Clean Maritime Demonstration Competitions in the UK and their operation and development. We will then look at the following individual projects: Hydrogen Bunkering for Crew Transfer Vessels; Ammonia Fuel Cells for Maritime Propulsion; and. Hydrogen in an Integrated Maritime Environment (HIMET.)
